Brief Challenge

Taking a break from studies or work is becoming an increasingly popular trend among young Vietnamese, so-called gap years. They treat it as an intentional way to understand themselves through life experiences that contribute to long-term success.

Objective

Making the military an aspirational choice for Vietnamese young people.

Key Issue

Social stigma: people assume the military is for those with no better options.

Cultural Landscape

Culture glorifies self-made success but only offers conventional paths to follow.

In an era where standing out matters more than ever (social media, personal branding, competitive job markets), edge is no longer optional, it’s survival.

Parents and society encourage safe, linear progress: university, stable job, steady income without real challenges to test one’s mettle.

Category Convention

Most skill-building opportunities focus on knowledge acquisition, but true differentiation comes from tested experience.

Gap year programs, online courses, and leadership bootcamps provide skills on paper but they don’t forge a person’s ability to lead under fire.
